This morning was extremely special. Why? Well, because this morning I was able to wake up before the sun hit my window. I was able to enjoy about a full hour of alone time. Me time. Down time.

You see, the thing about being a mom that most people don’t tell you, is that you will actually lose your freedom of time. You will surrender your alone time in exchange of taking care of your children. You will no longer be able to shower in peace when you want. It will always be a matter of scheduling in your time of relaxation. It’s the truth. Once you become a mother the needs of your children become higher than your own.

But here’s the thing. It doesn’t have to ALWAYS be like that. You don’t have to fully surrender the time you once took for granted. Instead, you just change HOW and WHEN you have me time. You decide whether or not your mental health and relationship with God is worth the early mornings or late nights. You get to decide what it is you sacrifice. After the kids go to bed do I choose to watch Netflix or scroll trough FB & IG for an hour….or do I choose to soak up God’s word and talk to my Creator through prayer? Do I hit snooze on my alarm or do I get out of bed and start the day with Jesus before chaos walks out the door with bed head, dry drool on their cheek and pajamas that night be soaked with pee? (that’s my favorite…ha!)

It is said that “A person’s worth is revealed in his attitude toward the ordinary things of life when he is not under the spotlight.” -Oswald Chambers and I could not agree more. I find myself constantly trying to find encouragement through these extraordinary moments in my life when in reality, what encourages me the most are mornings like today. I know you might be thinking, “Well I have already given up so much for my kids, I think I deserve a little late night Netflix binge.” or maybe it’s “I had to give up 1 hour of sleep last night because my kid had a bad dream.” Whatever the reason is, remember this, JESUS STILL SACRIFICED MORE.

I am not perfect by any means. And I am surely not saying you cannot do those things. I am just encouraging myself & you to manage our time more wisely and motivate us to not complain over what we may have to sacrifice.

“It is God’s Spirit that changes the atmosphere of our way of looking at things, and then things begin to be possible which before were impossible.” -Oswald Chambers
