This morning when I woke up the first thought in my head was β€œYou know what, I think I’m going to post a picture of myself with no make-up. And I am going to hashtag it #madrealmonday!” Haha. Little did I know what my devotion was going to be about this morning. πŸ˜‹

Recently I started a personal Instagram account separate from the account I use for my photography. I did this because on that account I felt like I could only post great quality photos and not really photos of myself or my family because well let’s be real, I usually always have my phone in hand rather than my actual camera. Also, I wanted to be able to reach other young women like myself who are passionate about building others up and being comfortable in their own skin! (Which is something I used to struggle with every moment of my life during a season.)

Of course, I find myself face to face with those lies every now and then and the emotions I used to feel come rushing back but that doesn’t mean that is who I am. Who I am will always be defined by who I choose to be in the Lord. I have posted many pictures of myself all dolled up, cute outfit, make-up done and a big smile the past few weeks but that’s not really who I am all the time. I usually don’t get dressed until my boys go down for their naps and even then, it is a small fight between watching How to get Away with Murder & stuffing my face with Hot Cheetos or putting on my drug store bought foundation. I would much rather do the first option. Haha. But that is why I wanted to write this post, to be #madreal and tell you that I don’t always get ready. I don’t always have my husband take pictures of me in the backyard. I don’t always have my brows on point. 🀨 I don’t always…. YOU fill in the blank. One thing I do always have is a bare, naked face when I wake up. My pajamas on until noon sometimes and the most important, COFFEE!!!! Ha. Jesus too! I will always have JESUS! πŸ˜πŸ™πŸ½

There is nothing, absolutely nothing wrong with being transparent and letting others see who you really are. Because you never know how many young ladies may be needing to see that it’s okay to be themselves in a world that encourages them to be like the stars we see on tv. Being open about what you go through and how you feel can impact in a way you never thought it could. And wouldn’t you want someone to be #madreal with you? πŸ€˜πŸ½β€’

So here is to all the moms who might feel like they HAVE to pick out cute outfits every day. To the ladies who hate doing their make-up just to stay home. For all you girls who are striving to look like those β€œIG girls” and somehow always fall short. πŸ€¦πŸ½β€β™€οΈ Choose today to be who you are and not what you see. Be okay with being who you are in the skin, body, hair, sweatpants, leggings, gym shorts or whatever it is you are most comfy in. And when you do feel like putting a little lip gloss on or switching up your wardrobe for the day, do it for yourself. πŸ–€
